Solar Credit Scheme

The Solar Credits Scheme makes installing solar power even more affordable.

The Federal Government's Solar Credits scheme is making solar  power more accessible to the average Australian household.  Based on the Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) scheme, the Solar Credit Scheme applies a multiplier to the RECs able to be created by your Solar Power system.

On 5 May, 2011, the Federal Government announced that they would be reducing the current 5 times multiplier which applies to the first 1.5kW of any solar PV system to a 3 times multiplier from July 1, 2011.  The scheme will then be phased out over the next two years, effectively ending in 2013.
If your system is larger than 1.5kW of system capacity, you will receive Solar Credits plus an additional REC for every megawatt hour of electricity able to be generated by your Solar Power system.

The Solar Credits Scheme is part of the Federal Government's Renewable Energy Target (RET) which aims to increase the amount of power produced from renewable energy sources like solar and wind.  The goal is for renewable energy to represent a 20% share of Australia's electricity supply by 2020.

By signing the "RECs Assignment Form" at the time of installation, you will be assigning your Solar Credits, along with your RECs to FreeSolar as part payment for your system.

Hurry! The Solar Credit Scheme will be reduced again from July 1, 2012.  To receive the maximum discount available, systems will need to be installed prior to June 30, 2012. Don't miss your place in our installation schedule! Place your order today.
