A note on Chinese manufactured solar panels:
To be used in Australia, Chinese panels must be accredited by the Clean Energy Council and comply to Australian standards. The Nice Sun panels currently used by FreeSolar are CEC accredited and have been tested to international standards by TUV Rheinland DE in Germany. In many instances, panels that are assembled in countries like Germany and USA use Chinese solar cells and components. China's low wages mean that panels can be manufactured more cost-effectively, and consumers of solar power around the world can benefit. The low prices offered by FreeSolar are as a result of our bulk buying ability. The panels used are not of inferior quality, and have received all required national and international accreditation.
China is the world leader in PV solar cell production.
"Data provided to Earth Policy Institute by GTM research show that Chinese manufactures again dominated the global industry in 2010, with close to 11,000 megawatts of PV cell production. This was the seventh consecutive year in which China at least doubled its PV output. Taiwan was a distant second with 3,600 megawatts produced, followed by Japan with 2,200 megawatts, Germany with 2,000 megawatts, and the United States with 1,100. The top five countries thus accounted for 82 percent of total world PV production.

In independent testing conducted by leading German industry publication and laboratories, PHOTON, and published in August 2011, the Growatt 5000MTL inverter achieved an A-rating, putting it ahead of many of the equivalent German-made inverters. Further, this rating was achieved for high irradiation making it perfect for Australian weather conditions. Click here to download the PHOTON test results.
